DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

I prefer to work by appointment only so I can give my full attention to my clients, but you are more than welcome to call or text ahead to see how soon I can work you in. Please note that salon is up a flight of 9 steps.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS?

I do not suggest bringing children along since I am trying to create a no stress atmosphere for you and my other clients. A salon is more dangerous than people realize, with hot curling irons and sharp cutting tools. Plus, I'd much rather you relax and enjoy some quiet time here, instead of worrying about what your little ones are doing.

DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?

I prefer cash or check because of no fees with those two options, but I do take credit cards and debit cards also.

I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW STYLIST BECAUSE I WANT A NEW HAIRSTYLE. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

As tempting as it is to try something new, I would highly suggest having a new stylist make subtle changes at first. Someone that has never worked with your hair before does not know how it will react to specifics. For example, the natural wave or curl, the texture of your hair (dry, fluffy, or silky) layers or all one length cuts, the products you use and what tools you use at home, if any. This ensures a more satisfactory result in trying a new hair stylist.

I'M TIRED OF FEELING RUSHED THROUGH SOME OF THE WALK-IN PLACES. WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT YOUR SERVICES?

I always try to allow 30 to 45 minutes for haircuts, and no less than 90 minutes for a cut and basic color retouch. Most times I do not take a different client while your color processes. Other places are told by management to do haircuts in 15 minutes or less. My clients appreciate the time I allow for each service, to make sure I have enough time for getting you to relax, doing quality work, and leaving plenty of time for checkout, conversation and clean up.

DO YOU GUARANTEE YOUR HAIR SERVICES?

I always tell my new clients that receive a haircut to work with their hair a few times at home, and if it needs a little tweaking, to call right away and I will trim a little more at no charge if it's within 1 week.

For clients that receive a perm or color service, once I do all the work and we both can see the end result is satisfactory, it is hard to guarantee what that client does after she leaves the salon. Top factors to consider that affect a new perm and/or color are: taking medication, shampooing or conditioning too soon, using harsh non-professional haircare products, chlorine and salt water, high heat styling tools, do it yourself home color.... just to name a few.

WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE?

Someone that occasionally runs a few minutes late usually does not create a problem, on a normal day. Someone that is 10 or more minutes late will have to receive their service in less time. If the service has to be forfeited and done at another time, there will be a fee charged. Emergencies (health & safety) are the only exception.

FACIALS ARE ONLY FOR WOMEN, RIGHT?

No, I have given many Facials to "real men." My Facials are designed to appeal to both  men and women because they are for relaxation only. Nothing fancy or feminine. No steaming air blowing in your face. No masks that dry out for 10 minutes. No cucumbers over your eyes.

I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN. CAN I GET A FACIAL?

Absolutely! I have sensitive skin myself, and I use skincare products that are natural from a health food store. You are welcome to bring your own products for me to use on you. I have 2 ladies that inquired about this, and then decided to try mine the first time, and they had no problems.

DO YOU SPEND THE WHOLE HOUR (FACIAL) WORKING ON THE FACE?

No. My Facial is all about relaxing. I do not analyze your skin under a magnifying light, nor do I ever squeeze pimples or blackheads. I do give a light, soothing massage on the face using my hands, hot towels, and sponges (because it feels good). Then I massage your hands, arms, and fingers, and finish with a neck, shoulder, and scalp massage. Most of my clients cannot decide which they enjoy the most - my Massage or my Facial!

DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS FROM YOU?

No. I do not even sell any skincare products. Other places might tell you all about your skin type and how to take care of it, and then send you out the door with $100 worth of fancy skincare products. My Facial is all about feeling good.

MY BACK IS "OUT" AND I HAVE A LOT OF PAIN. SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE FROM YOU?

My Massage is not for anyone in a lot of pain. If your back is out, you need to see someone that specializes in that. I offer relief for everyday stress and tension. After recently experiencing a painful back issue myself, I can definitely relate to what it's like, and share my story with you about how I am trying to avoid another one.

I'M SHY AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE BEFORE, BUT WOULD LIKE TO TRY ONE. DO I HAVE TO TAKE ALL MY CLOTHES OFF?

No, absolutely not. I actually tell my clients to please leave their underwear or boxer shorts on. A bra can be left on (during a Facial but not a Back Massage) if you tuck the shoulder straps under your arms. Pants can also be left on, but you might get too warm, especially in cold weather when I use a heated blanket.

DO YOU OFFER DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?

No, but my Massage is deeper than a Swedish Massage. I use firm, medium pressure and I only use my hands. Personally, I think it hurts when elbows and forearms are used in massage. I locate your knots with my thumbs, and go over them a few times but I will not work them out in just one session. I don't want you to tense up from pain or make you feel like you want to jump off the table. Communication is the key! Please tell me if and when it is too much pressure. Everybody has a different tolerance for pain and I want your experience to be just right for YOU. Enough pressure to help your condition but not too much.

WHY SHOULD I GET A MASSAGE FROM YOU?

After doing hair for over 30 years, I have been told that I have different muscles in my hands and also a different approach to Massage. I love getting massage, and know from being a professional myself what is relaxing, what feels good and what is just boring repetition. I do not use my elbows or forearms, and since I do not do massage all day, ( I also do hair)  I can fully use my thumbs and fingers. I pay attention to detail for a more enjoyable experience for you! If you have an hour massage, I work on you for the full hour. Other places subtract time for undressing, dressing, and getting the massage table ready for the next client. So you might only get 45 minutes there.

WILL I HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR A PLAN?

No, nor do I keep any credit card information on file. What I do is offer discounts for clients that do repeat visits within 4 weeks of their last visit. Ask me for more information.
